DOLOMITES SUPERSKI ADVENTURE

Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy

Follow the sun with us to the lovely resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo, nestled in the center of the famous, awe-inspiring Dolomiti ski region.  You’re invited to join our yearly group of skiers, snowboarders and winter sightseeing enthusiasts on this special tour.  The Dolomiti Superski area is the world’s largest interconnected ski region, with 44 ski resorts, 750 miles of trails and a total of 464 cable cards and lifts.  You would be hard-pressed to ski all the trails during an entire winter season!  Cortina is not actually connected by lifts to the other areas, but it alone contains 53 lifts and nearly 90 miles of marked, groomed runs, which can easily keep you busy for a week.  For the best tour of the other major resorts in the region on the same lift pass, consider an optional day on the Sella Ronda Circuit.  This unique, interconnected ski trail winds all the way around the mighty Sella mountain group – over 16 miles of skiing.  Remember to get an early start, or you might not make it back to where you started before the lifts close!

In Cortina, life centers around the Corso, a shop-lined, car-free street where you can browse and see the latest winter fashions as well as purchase a gift from one of the many craft and antique shops.  For non-skiers, endless activities await!  Cortina is at the center of a network of carefully groomed trails for leisurely winter walks leading as far away as San Giacomo and a frozen waterfall.  Cortina has been offering a complete range of winter sports facilities since hosting the Olympic Games in 1956.  How about a tennis match at one of the many indoor courts in town, a horse-drawn sleigh ride, a snowmobile excursion, a sled dog ride or an afternoon of snow shoeing?  Bus excursions are also available to such cities as Lienz, Austria; Florence and Venice, Italy; and Salzburg and Innsbruck, Austria.  Having a good time is the natural thing to do in Cortina.  Infectious good spirits and a relaxed and happy mood are proof enough that a hard day’s skiing has an invigorating affect when night falls!  Whatever your taste in “apres-ski”, the right setting awaits you – in a pub or mountain lodge, café or cellar bar, or the disco.

The Cortina Hotel will be our home for the week.  This hotel is centrally located on Corso Italia, the main street in town, just a few blocks from the center.  It has a simple, comfortable style and features a restaurant and guest bar.
