Why I Love To
Ski And Teach Skiing
THERE IS MAGIC in skiing. When all is going well, skiing is a
triumphant, invigorating experience. Soaring down the mountainside,
your body finds its own balance, turn after turn; your mind is as
clear as the cold air against your face. This is a level of
experience that makes skiing compelling and exhilarating.
My purpose in teaching skiing is to help my clients
increase the magic; to increase the joy and freedom; to achieve the
mental and physical awareness necessary to perform at their best.
This key combination enables them to maintain the attitude and
skills necessary for consistent, effortless skiing.
I teach the technical aspects, turning, edging, weighting
and unweighting and control, at all levels with this point of view:
You don't have to be an advanced skier to master the essentials. The
fundamentals will take you wherever you want to go if you learn them
in conjunction with a mental state that frees you to ski with
confidence.
Neither external conditions nor lack of technical ability prevents
us from skiing at our best - only our state of mind. Often,
distractions create a mental state that causes awkwardness and loss
of fluid, instinctive motion. In my lessons, skiers learns the
"art of concentration," to trust their bodies' amazing
ability. They develop a sense of well-being on the slope and
recognize that their greatest possibilities lie in changing
self-doubt to achieve the full expression of their potential.
